Recently, the "2021 World Tourism Cities Federation Beijing Fragrant Mountain Tourism Summit and 2021 World Tourism Cooperation and Development Conference" opened at the China National Convention Center, with the participation of Pakistani Ambassador to China Mr. Moin ul Haque. Mr.Haque said that Pakistan has signed a memorandum of understanding and established a partnership with the China Tourism Associationand will launch a Chinese website themed "Discover Pakistan" to promote Pakistani tourism and cultural projects in China.
Pakistan's tourism industry has a splendid and glorious history. In the 1960s, Pakistan was once a big tourist country in Asia and a dream destination for tourists. Today, Pakistan is still nurturing abundant tourism resources. Take the northern region as an example. If you approach Gilgit Baltistan, you will find that the gurgling lakes and rivers, the rolling plateau snow-capped mountains, the golden and endless grasslands, and the sweeping blue sky are all like a fairyland. Natural scenery like this abounds in northern Pakistan, and it is beautiful. In addition, the monuments of the Kingdom of Hunza (also known as Hongzha) are unique in the world. In northern Pakistan, there are ruins of ancient Gandhara culture, Khunjerab National Park, and Nanga Parbat, a paradise for mountaineering tourism.
Not far from Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, is Pakistan’s Keula Salt Mine Scenic Area, which is not only a salt mine development site, but also a famous scenic spot. In addition, there are many famous scenic spots in Pakistan, such as the Faisal Mosque, which is world-famous, and the Badshahi Mosque, Severmluk Lake, and Hanna Lake are all beautiful scenic spots to linger on.
So how will the tourism industry of China and Pakistan cooperate in the future? The first is the security matter in Pakistan, that is, if Pakistan can eliminate the threat of terrorism on a large scale in a short time, it can ensure that most scenic spots are protected from terrorist attacks to the greatest extent, so that any tourist (whether from China or other countries) is safe. Therefore, it is not impossible for China and Pakistan to develop tourism cooperation and attract Chinese tourists to Pakistan on a large scale.
Secondly, how to make Pakistan's customs and historical sites attract Chinese tourists, Pakistan's tourism industry needs to learn from the experience and achievements of advanced countries in tourism. People from the tourism industry in Pakistan need to visit each other with people from the tourism industry in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. In particular, send personnel to follow China's travel routes to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. You must understand these four Southeast Asian countries. How do these countries (two of them are Islamic countries) effectively and fruitfully attract Chinese tourists, and then combine Pakistan’s reality with the experience learnt from those advanced tourism countries to formulate effective China-Pakistan tourism cooperation plans, especially how to increase the comfort standard for the Chinese tourists requires great effort.
Furthermore, Pakistan needs to make adequate material preparations for a large number of Chinese travelers. The so-called material preparation means that Pakistan needs to adopt Chinese dishes in tourist attractions throughout the country. The Chinese dishes in tourist attractions do not need to be authentic, but with Pakistani characteristics, such as fried noodles and kung pao chicken. It is known that the characteristics of Pakistani-style Chinese cuisine are similar to Cantonese cuisine. Pakistani-style Chinese cuisine is mainly sweet, sour and spicy, and ketchup, soy sauce, chili sauce, vinegar and MSG are preferred for seasoning. Since the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor started in 2013, Chinese restaurants have sprung up like mushrooms in major cities in Pakistan. Compared with the earlier Pakistani-style Chinese dishes, their dishes and tastes are relatively close to traditional Chinese dishes. Therefore, Pakistan should attract Chinese tourists by promoting Pakistani-style Chinese dishes in tourist attractions. This not only eliminates the strangeness and unaccustomed feeling of Chinese tourists to Pakistani cuisine, but also allows Chinese tourists to enjoy Chinese cuisine from foreign countries. It is both attractive and easy to increase the satisfaction of Chinese tourists.
Finally, the Pakistani tourism industry needs to reserve talents for a large number of Chinese tourists. In view of the increasing number of graduates of Confucius Institutes, there are more and more Pakistanis who can understand Chinese. Many people work in Chinese-funded enterprises, but the rest of them cannot find suitable jobs. Therefore, once "Discover Pakistan" website attracts Chinese tourists and the tourism cooperation project between China and Pakistan is launched, these Pakistanis who are proficient in Chinese will put their skill in use. It is a fact that the vast majority of Chinese middle-aged tourists do not understand English. Moreover, Chinese like to travel during the public long holidays, and the family often travel together, guides proficient in Chinese are very important. In order to attract Chinese tourists with a population of 1.4billion, Pakistan's tourism sector must take a long-term view, looking at the Chinese talent pool from the perspective of the overall revival of Pakistan's tourism industry and the transformation of Pakistan into China's largest tourist destination. Although there are many Chinese graduates at the Confucius Institute in Pakistan, there are few talents that can be used. Any Pakistani who is interested in the tourism business for Chinese tourists, should prepare early, learn Chinese intensively and learn well. In addition, the overseas Chinese in Pakistan need to go from being fluent in Urdu to being proficient in Urdu. This is not only for the business needs of attracting Chinese tourists, but also for the effective connection with Pakistan’s tourism industry and transform their Chinese restaurant business into a one-stop tourist catering.
